Itzhak Perlman returned to live performances this past weekend with the Houston Symphony. It was his first live performance since last February 2020.
He performed Beethoven’s radiant Violin Romances and conducted the Symphony in Beethoven’s Coriolan Overture and the beloved Symphony No. 7.
Itzhak Perlman’s connection with the Houston Symphony goes back to the late-’60s, so it’s hardly a new one. And when he said last year, “Every time I return, it’s like being with family,” he meant that literally as well as metaphorically. Perlman’s daughter’s husband plays French horn in the symphony.
